TUFF aims to provide financial assistance towards transition costs for transgender and gender variant individuals.
Trans United with Family and Friends (TUFF) is a non-profit organization that gives financial assistance (or scholarships) to transgender individuals towards the cost of their transition. Jacob Rostovsky incorporated TUFF in March of 2013. As a transgender male himself, Jacob noticed that there was an incredible need for financial assistance in regards to transition costs in the transgender community.
Jacob realized that something as simple as not having the money to file for a name change could be holding someone back from being able to get a job, and thus not being able to afford to live. Or, someone could be severely depressed because they weren’t able to afford hormones. A lot of transgender individuals are suicidal simply because they cannot transition due to not having the funds to access transition services. It was after this realization that Jacob decided the only solution was to create an organization that helped with these financial needs. By giving financial assistance and helping others transition, it helps to create happier, more productive members of society.
